On November 10th Nagano Seisen High School students held an online exchange meeting with students at Stella Matutina Girls’ High School in Taichung City, Taiwan. Students from this school have visited Seisen three times in previous years, before the Covid-19 outbreak.

    We began the online meeting with a short opening ceremony, featuring presentations from our respective schools. Seisen students’ presentations were entitled: “Our Mission,” “Learn From Our Predecessors (Mother Teresa)”, “Nuclear Weapons” and “Nuclear Ban Treaty.” In them we talked about such topics as Maria Rafaela’s work, Seisen’s educational philosophy. We closed the opening ceremony with a prayer from Francesco of Assisi, which Pope Francis had used during his visit to Nagasaki in 2019.

    After the opening ceremony, Stella Matutina Girls’ High School played their video introduction then we divided into four groups in which we enjoyed introducing ourselves and discussing each other’s interests. Following are some of the Seisen participants’ impressions on the exchange.

      “I was happy when we talked face-to-face and understood each other’s words.”

      “It was a great experience to be able to interact in English across countries.”

      “I was excited about our common topics.”

      “I’m thinking of studying English and Chinese.”

    Overall, the online exchange seems to have gone very smoothly. Special thanks goes to the Nagano Prefecture Tourism Organization for introducing the two schools and supporting our continuing international relationship. We look forward to our next exchange opportunity, hopefully in the near future.

11月10日（水）台湾の台中市天主教暁明女子高級中学の皆さんとのオンライン交流会を行いました。20106年から3年間、毎年本校を訪れてくださっている学校です。

日本時間15：30（台湾時間で14：30）にスタートし、両校の校長先生、代表生徒の挨拶、それぞれの学校紹介を行いました。本校は創立者のラファエラ・マリア様、学校理念について、そして総合的な探究の時間に取り組んできた「私たちのミッション」「先人から学ぶ（マザーテレサ）」「核兵器」「核禁止条約」について発表しました。締めくくりは2019年に長崎を訪問された教皇フランシスコのスピーチで引用された、アッシジのフランチェスコの祈りについて発表しました。暁明女子高級中学の学校紹介を映像で見せていただいたあと、4つのグループに分かれて自己紹介、お互いの興味関心のある内容について話し合いました。

本校生から、次のような感想が聞かれました。

   「画面越しに話をしてお互いの言葉が通じた瞬間が嬉しかった」

   「国を越えて英語で交流できたのがすごく良い経験になった。」

   「共通の話題で盛り上がった」「英語と中国語の勉強をしようと思う」

また交流の機会を持ちたいと思います。このご縁を繋いでいただいた長野県観光機構の皆さまにも感謝申し上げます。これからもこの素晴らしい交流がずっと続きますように。
